Understanding RSD: Why Rejection Hits So Hard and What Helps
Ever found yourself convinced someone is annoyed with you because of a short message? Replaying a conversation over and over? Taking a piece of feedback far harder than you wanted to?
For lots of us with ADHD, perceived rejection, criticism or failure can trigger an emotional response that feels intense, immediate and difficult to shake off.
This experience is often referred to as Rejection Sensitive Dysphoria (RSD).
In this workshop, we’ll explore what RSD is, why it can feel so powerful, and how it can influence our thoughts, emotions and behaviour.
We’ll look at what may be happening in the brain and nervous system, common patterns that can show up, and practical ways to respond when rejection sensitivity is driving the conversation.
This isn’t about getting rid of RSD. It’s about understanding it better, recognising your own patterns, and learning how to stop it from taking the steering wheel.
Working with Lauren has been a pleasure. The sessions really helped me keep on track when overwhelm kicked in and I would usually begin to step away, but knowing I had an upcoming session really enabled me to keep going in a productive way. The sessions were professional, but relaxed and enjoyable. I’ve finally ticked off several things off my ever long to do list that I really don’t think I’d have done without Lauren’s support. I highly recommend working with Lauren to support you to support yourself moving forward 🙂
